Activities

At Westview & Shambles, we pride ourselves on offering a full range of activities to encourage children to learn through participation and sharing. The children will often be involved with the creation of healthy meals and snacks as well as having regular access to arts and craft facilities.

The children take part in a range of topics throughout the year designed to teach acceptance and raise inquisition by looking at different countries around the world and different moments in history. A full range of activities will be set around each topic.

Westview & Shambles children are engaged members of the local community, taking time to visit the local library and market, which teaches them a range of skills including walking safely around traffic and understanding money. The children will often buy flowers at the market for the nursery.

The children also actively explore with lots of outdoor learning, taking advantage of the local woodland areas, fields and parklands in order to learn lots about nature and the world around us.

As well as this we have a range of professional classes that the children take part in including dance, swimming and Making Music with Monty.

Making Music with Monty is a fun and playful way to introduce children to music.

item5Author and composer, Gabrielle takes the children on a fun-filled musical adventure with Monty the Maestro each week where they discover new music skills and are encouraged to interact, experiment, and explore their imaginations and creativity to the fullest.

Gabrielle’s specialist music classes captivate children using the magic of storytelling.  The children develop their initial musical skills and build on them weekly so that by the time they set off to school they have all the knowledge they need before starting a musical instrument.
